Snow days… times have changed

365 Project: Day 91

Well, we had our first snow day in Minnesota this year on Wednesday, February 29th. I thought for sure my photo of the day would be some beautiful shot of what it looked like outside, and although I did take some pictures of the snow, none of them turned out. Jon and I didn’t make the trek into work, and I didn’t drive Hannah to her classes that day, so it was a rare treat to all be home mid-week for the whole day.

I remember when a snowstorm/ snow day meant that you go outside with the kids and build a snowman, have a snowball fight, or go sledding. How times have changed. We didn’t do anything but enjoy it from the inside looking out. What was really fun–and funny–was when Jon and Hannah had a wrestling match in the kitchen when I was making dinner. Oh my goodness… the highlight of my day.

How many wrestling matches has Jon had with all four of the kids over the years?

They are as many as the STARS!

***

It’s been awhile since the last one, and Hannah is much stronger than she used to be.

***

Jon’s signature “super-trap” move with the kids has always been getting the leg trapped, rendering a human almost, but not quite, pinned.

***

She looks like she’s having fun, right? Jon said all she had to do was say ‘uncle’ and he’d let her go. She said ‘never’!

***

Her leg is still trapped, but as you can see, she’s making a little progress.

***

This went on for 20 minutes, and by this time, I was laughing so hard I had to stop making dinner. After a while, Hannah got her leg free long enough to grab hold of the banister, pulled herself up, and walked away unpinned. Yes, that would be called a victory!

Until the next snow day… I thank my husband and youngest daughter for taking the time to clean my kitchen floor while I get dinner on the table. Thank you!
